About PlantsInUSA
PlantsInUSA is a free, editor-reviewed reference for plants grown across the United States. Every page is generated from a structured database — so what you see is consistent, comparable, and citable, not a one-off blog post.
What we cover
Each plant page includes scientific and common names, USDA hardiness zones, sun and water requirements, native range, pet-safety, bloom time, and a long-form growing & care section. Pages link to state guides and related plants so you can browse laterally.
Where the data comes from
- USDA PLANTS Database — public-domain source for scientific names, native ranges, and family taxonomy.
- ASPCA Animal Poison Control — primary reference for pet toxicity flags. We cite the source on every plant where applicable.
- Wikimedia Commons — permissively-licensed photography.
- Editorial review — care content reviewed by a horticultural editor before publication.
What we don't do
We don't diagnose pet poisonings or offer veterinary advice — call 888-426-4435 (ASPCA APCC, 24/7) or your local veterinarian if your pet ingested any plant. We don't sell plants or seeds; some product recommendations link to Amazon, where we earn a small commission at no cost to you — see our affiliate disclosure.
